Causes of Odor in Manholes
When sewage wastes come into contact with air, decay occurs and the following gases are produced. These gases are called mercaptan gases:
Methane (odorless, pH neutral, explosive)
Carbon dioxide (odorless, acidic, not explosive)
Hydrogen Sulfide (rotten egg smell, acidic, not explosive)
Ammonia (urine odor, not acidic, explosive).
Odor Retention Principle
It removes odors according to the adsorption method. Adsorption is a method of keeping molecules on the surface without any chemical reaction. With the special adsorbent material used, 8 times more mercaptan gases can be retained compared to its counterparts. This capacity also extends the efficiency and life of our MİSKOK odor filter.
Working Principle of the Filter
In the manhole, as the sewer passes, the solids sink to the bottom. During the evaporation of the liquid, dense gases are formed partially after the contact of the solid with the air. As the gases pass through the chamber of the filter, the odor disappears as a result of adsorption and the fresh air comes out. In the meantime, the water formed on the road goes down to the sewer by filtering through the filter. The filter surface is not affected by the flow of water and does not affect the flow of water.
Safety Valves
If the filter surface is clogged or excessive water is formed, 4 discharge valves open, allowing the water to flow down. In case of excessive gas accumulation in the sewer due to clogging of the filter surface, the gas safety valve opens, preventing the explosion of methane gas.
